Job Application for Senior Electronics Design Engineer (Schematic and Architecture)
We are looking for
A Senior Electronics Design Engineer who can take a product idea and turn it into a correct, well-reasoned schematic. You start from a requirement, a client conversation or a rough concept, and you work out what the electronics should be: the block diagram, the power tree, the interfaces, the key components and the design calculations that justify each choice. Then you capture it as a schematic that others can lay out, build and write firmware against with confidence.
This is not a drafting role. We are looking for the person who decides what the circuit should be and can explain why every part and every value is there. You are not expected to do PCB layout. If you can, that is an advantage.
The second half of the role is review. You will review the schematics and designs of other engineers at Pinetics, catch problems before they reach a board, and help raise the standard of design across the team.
Should have the following responsibilities and background
Architecture and Concept
- Translate product requirements into an electronics architecture: block diagram, power tree, clock and reset scheme, interface and connector plan.
- Evaluate design options and trade-offs on cost, power, size, availability and certification, and document the recommended approach.
- Select key components: microcontrollers and SoCs, power ICs, sensors, analog front ends, communication modules and protection devices.
- Estimate the power budget, thermal load and BOM cost at concept stage.
Schematic Design
- Design circuits from first principles: power supplies, battery charging, analog signal conditioning, sensor interfaces, MCU and digital circuits, communication interfaces and protection.
- Carry out and document design calculations: component values, tolerances, derating, stability, timing and power dissipation.
- Capture clean, hierarchical, well-annotated schematics that a layout engineer and a firmware engineer can work from without chasing you.
- Write layout constraints for critical sections such as power, analog, high-speed and RF, and review the layout against them.
- Build testability, manufacturability and EMC and safety considerations into the design from the schematic stage.
Design Review and Mentoring
- Review schematics and designs created by other engineers: correctness, calculations, part choices, protection, power integrity and testability.
- Run structured reviews with documented findings and follow each finding to closure.
- Build and maintain design review checklists and a library of proven, reusable circuit blocks.
- Support bring-up of the first boards from your designs and feed the learning back into the design and the checklists.
Technical Skills Required
- Idea to Schematic: 7+ years taking designs from a requirement to a complete, working schematic yourself, on products you can name.
- Fundamentals: Strong analog, digital and power electronics; able to derive a design from first principles and explain every value.
- Power Design: Linear and switching regulators, battery charging and power path, protection, sequencing and power budgets.
- Analog and Mixed Signal: Sensor interfaces, op-amp signal conditioning, filters, ADC and DAC front ends, noise and error budgets.
- Digital and MCU: MCU and SoC circuits, clocks, resets, memories, UART, SPI, I2C, USB, CAN, RS485, Ethernet; BLE, Wi-Fi and cellular modules.
- Component Selection: Datasheet parameters, tolerances, derating, lifecycle, second sources and BOM cost.
- Tools: A professional schematic tool (Altium, OrCAD / Cadence, KiCad or similar), circuit simulation (LTspice or similar), bench instruments.
- PCB Layout: Not expected. If you can do it, that is an advantage.
Preferred Skills (Added Advantage)
- Experience in a product design services or contract engineering environment.
- Medical devices, IoT and IoMT products, and regulated development such as ISO 13485.
- Low power and battery operated design.
- Taking a design through certification (CE, FCC, UL, BIS, IEC 60601) and into volume production.
- Worst case analysis, derating analysis or design FMEA.
- Hands-on PCB layout ability.
Qualifications
- B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in Electronics, Electronics and Telecommunication, or Electronics and Instrumentation. Electrical Engineering is considered where the hands-on electronics design history is strong.
- 7+ years of hands-on electronics design experience, with architecture and schematic ownership.
- Able to walk through at least two of your own designs in detail: requirements, architecture, calculations and part choices.
- Good verbal and written communication in English.
Will have the following remuneration and work location
- CTC Range: As per industry standard for relevant experience.
- Pune, Wakad Office. In-office role.
- Reports to: Engineering Manager or CDO.
